1982 Islander Schooner 44', 50' with beams. Needs TLC, OBO, trying to sell quickly. Last haulout was in Dec of 2020, pictured in photos. Diesel engine was last run 10 months ago, buyer will have to pay for diesel mechanic to come run it with fresh fuel, I am looking into doing the same but my main reason for selling is I do not have time. Bottom and top painted in Dec of 2020, along with new generator, battery banks and fuel pump. I have lots of literature for it but I do not know much about it. Needs replacing of rotted/cracked cosmetic wood railing, it is not structural. Comes with a dinghy with 86# thrust electric motor and 2 lead acid batteries, etc, pictured, bought end of June '23.
Survey:
"The following is a professional opinion by Captain Jim Elfers, a marine surveyor who briefly visited the vessel but did not survey it. This appears to be an Islander 44 hull finished by an unknown individual in Moss Landing, California in the early 1980's. The interior layout is not the Islander 44 layout and they were never built with a Detroit Diesel engine or as a schooner rig. Note that the Islander 44 was not built after the late 1970's and it is possible that a hull and deck only were purchased from the factory and then finished by the individual. Boat was not seen out of the water but appears to have encapsulated ballast so there is no hull to keel joint to worry about. The main problems with the boat are from wood rot because the original 44's did not have wood toe rails or bulwarks and this version has a more traditional high bulwark which appears to be Douglas Fir (not teak) and has rotted in many areas. The same applied to the companionway hatch which was fiberglass on the original version but is wood on this example. The schooner rig appears well executed using aluminum masts and quality rigging. All running rigging is weathered and needs replacement. Standing rigging needs inspection by a professional rigger aloft. Canvas and sails appears serviceable but was not closely inspected. Beautiful schooner lines. The engine reportedly runs well but is considered an obsolete unit that takes a lot of space but if it runs there is no need to replace it. Vessel is a project boat appropriate for someone with woodworking skills that appreciates a salty looking schooner rig."Dimensions
