This boat lived most of it's life on Flathead Lake Montana where it only went in the water (on a lift) 2 months a year and garaged the other 9 months. I put many new things in it - canvas, upholstery, batteries, outdrive but then decided to sell it. It is on a trailer now and is ready to go.
This description came from a boat magazine that did an independent review of this boat. " The sweeping lines that comprise the distinctive Maxum 2500 SCR profile signal that this is an artfully styled craft, engineered for pulse-quickening performance. Yet there's a surprisingly roomy interior that invites passengers to pause and enjoy its luxuries during those fleeting moments when it's not running full-out. A careful inspection hints at the adrenaline rush to be derived from the combination of Maxum's superbly engineered Max-Trac hull and standard 5.0-liter MerCruiser engine with potent EFI technology. In addition, the custom-molded dash has a smooth wood grain finish and brushed aluminum design accents. The wetbar, cooler and glove-soft seating designed in an open conversation pit style, lets passengers view the action while cruising, and lets the captain be part of the action when not underway."
EZ Loader trailer in excellent condition – kept indoors constantly.
Dragonfly was purchased new in 2001 in Montana. It was my son’s boat and he kept it on Flathead Lake, MT where he used it in summers for 3 months a year, docked it on a sling, and garaged it in the remaining 9 months. He trailered the boat to California for me. This Maxum SCR 2500 is in exceptionally good condition. I docked in a slip at South Beach Harbor since 2021. Many new features: upholstery, canvas, outdrive, engine overhaul, batteries etc. Engine is 320 Mercruiser sealed system and runs perfectly. "This boat was designed to fit the price point between Sea Ray and Bayliner, made by Brunswick Boat Builders. In 1988, they began a line of boats, Maxum, that would have many Sea Ray parts but less expensive, yet a cut above the Bayliner. In 2001, a new closed system sterndrive Mercruiser Engine & Outdrive was added for salt-water use. In 2008, the company discontinued the Maxum because it was too costly to be sustainable at the price range. The company is committed to maintaining parts and guarantees. There is an active forum of Maxum owners online for information as well.
PERFORMANCE & HANDLING Review from Yachting World Magazine
Aggressive chines, sharp-bow entry and a deep-vee hull propelled by a powerful MX 6.2lt 320hp MPI MerCruiser combine to ensure this boat’s no slouch in the performance stakes. Cruising along at 3800rpm she sits on a comfortable 38mph but put the hammer down and she’ll hit 48mph at 5500rpm. And that’s not bad for a boat that weighs-in at more than 3.5 ton before you add people, skis and food."
