Description
For sale is our family boat. An absolute classic 1981 Mako 213. These things ride UNBELIEVABLE and it's the driest boat I have ever ridden on.
About 3 years ago I did a big restoration on the boat. I removed everything, the engine, hardware, center console, T-Top, hatches, trim, etc. All of this was completely redone, rebedded, repainted and resealed. I installed a lot of new electrical equipment and re-organized the previous rats nest of electrical that was going on. We also installed a brand new aluminum fuel tank. All old teak trim was replaced with starboard for no maintenance but still giving the boat the classic look.
The only bad thing I can say about the boat is the deck. The entire hull and deck was repainted. About 5-6 soft spots on the deck were repaired but the deck should have probably been completely ripped up and replaced. There is one area on the deck just forward of the center console that is cracking around where one of the soft spots used to be. The contracter who painted the hull and his team did not do the best job of prep work with their paint job. There are some areas on the boat where some of the old UV cracking and corner gelcoat cracks are showing again. That's the bad.
Unfortunately I don't have any time to fix the boat anymore. What I would do is repair the cracked area on deck and if desired paint just the low portion of the deck or the repair area. Alternativdelty you could choose to take on a big project and completely re-do the deck but I think that may be a bit overkill at this point but it all depends on your intentions for the boat and standards.
This boat has given me some of the best times of my life. Lived in the Bahamas for most of its life. It's got good ju-ju!
