Great Freshwater Tug with Detroit Diesel 8V-71 and 17 Ton Pull!
This Tampa Shipyards Tug is located on Lake Superior and has worked across the Great Lakes, through the Erie Canal and on the Eastern seaboard. She is powered by a Detroit Diesel 8V-71 engine and produces up to 17 tons bollard pull. The engine is keel cooled.
The elevated bridge provides good visibility all around and is updated with Furuno 1600 radar. The 70-degree rudder and 6' draft optimize maneuverability for this worker.
She is outfitted as a working vessel. Below are day table, workbench space, and a privacy closet for porta-potti if needed.
The ship's USCG endorsement is for Coastwise. Known locally for her participation in the 1995 search for Lake Superior cold war material, this Tampa Shipyards Tug is ready for her next adventure!
While we will always attempt to provide you with a TRUE representation of every vessel we market, during any purchase from Pop you will be encouraged to schedule an inspection from an independent, accredited surveyor and every purchase WILL ALWAYS BE subject to your satisfaction with the results from your independent survey and your own personal trial run.
If you're in the Superior, Hibbing, Cloquet, or Hermantown areas, please contact us to let us know what you're looking for and we'll get back with you today about any other tugboat options we have locally that may meet your needs.

Condition
The tug is currently stored on the hard and will need a new prop (48X28). The owner confirms the Detroit Diesel has always been a sweet runner with no major issues. The injectors were replaced in 2004 and the boat has been in fresh water since the late 1980s. This one gets a lot of attention and is under lock-and-key, so a little advanced time for showings will be needed...but well worth it!
