The Beneteau First 435 is a rare offering in the US. Designed by German Frers and built in France to the highest standards as an offshore racing/cruising boat, the 435 is a fast, powerful, solidly built design that also happens to have a nicely appointed interior for cruising. The layout features two private staterooms, two heads and a centerline queen berth in the aft cabin, with total accommodations for 7. As a true Bluewater racer/cruiser, with a PHRF base rating of 81, the First 435 glides beautifully in light air and competently punches through adverse weather. Mariannina was built in 1988 and has enjoyed numerous innovative improvements & upgrades for safety and singlehanded sailing. She has confidently sailed our family on numerous voyages along the New England coast from NY to Maine and down to the Bahamas taking line honors in the 2012 Arc Bahamas. With all control lines led to two deck mounted electric winches she is routinely solo sailed .

Sails & Runing Rigging
Configured for single handed cruising and full crew racing/passage-making.
Two Main sails: Original mylar reinforced triple reef main (per actual aerial photo) is in good condition for general cruising & delivery etc.
Newer main (2012) is full batten, triple reef, made of 10.3 high modulus “Challenge” Dacron to offshore standards by Kappa Sails, Westbrook CT (not an overseas factory).
Single line reefing: 1st & 2nd mainsail reefing is done from the cockpit. Important for safety, because when it’s easier to reef, one tends to reef sooner and also no one needs to go on deck. Third reef is traditional slab type.
Electric deck winches: Original Lewmar 40 ST’s have been replaced with two Lewmar “Ocean Electric” 40 ST. These are used on Starboard for: Main, first reef and two spare halyards, and on Port: Mainsheet, Vang, second reef, Staysail Halyard and Spinnaker halyard.
Inner Forestay: A 7/8 rig inner forestay allows for either the 85% working jib or storm jib to be rigged for high wind conditions without removing the furled headsail. When not in use the inner forestay is secured back near the shrouds clearing the foredeck.
