This one a rare find. GW quit making the 228 in 2021 after 40 yrs. of production so very few on the market. Plenty 206s and 226s but not the 228 Seafarer. Hate to let it go but have 2 kids’ college bound next 24 months so must reorganize the checkbook. Took several yrs. to get this rig set up, so it’s a painful sale to say the least. Sorry for water beads in pics, was raining off & on all day when I snapped. Initial contact to my email roevendorroe@gmail.com with subject line: Grady White I will only be able to check this inbox every 48 hrs. due to schedule.
Hull: 1999 Grady White 228 Seafarer (ID: NTLCR250L899) – 22’ from bow to transom - 5’ from transom to back of engine – total length 27’
Engine: 2014 Yamaha F250XA (ID: 692X1040029) – if you know Yamahas, you know many good yrs. left on this engine but when time comes to repower, you can hang a 300 HP on this boat due to new lighter weight engines. When outboard was installed, a new Yamaha key switch, binnacle shifter, wiring harness, & control cables also installed new. I’ve used it very little over the last few yrs. so unsure on engine hrs., but I know they’re on the lower side due to my limited use & no offshore. For any serious buyers happy to run it to my dealer so they can hook up confirm. They’re a mile up the road.
Custom Hard Top: Took a yr. to design, manufacture, & install. Won’t find another 228 anywhere like it. Goal was thin-line top w/ swept back look. Not fan of the bulky tops but you have lots of options to add boxes/storage nets. Top also designed to act as an airfoil so when wide open/trimmed out, it would help reduce hull drag. This why you can get it to almost 48 MPH even w/ the 250 HP. Top designed to serve as a ski pole so was anchored to meet this standard.(spec-300 lb. rider) Had big plans for water sports but right after top installed, kids got into motocross so it collected dust. For the wakeboarders, you will love the rope at 12’ overhead w/ 5’ wake. Additionally, w/ rope set at this height, makes it a breeze to get up especially for kids & beginners.
Custom Covers: Mian cover is 3K set up. Was designed so that (1) you can trailer boat w/ it on & (2) can put it on & off while boat in the water. This why all straps set above water line & for the 3 zippered entrances on left, right, & rear. If your future is wet slip, you have your cover. Also designed for wakeboard rack installed, but can remove this rack w/ 4 bolts & cover unaffected. Cabin & Engine cover also included.
Custom Trailer: Trailer stock, but length was the upgrade. Purchased trailer sized for a larger boat b/c I wanted ample space to open tailgate load/unload while truck hooked up. Most know this headache when you can’t. Also looks killer hooked up!
Exterior Cushions: All cushions are mint, completely redone & kept in cabin away from sun
Cabin Cushions: Redone in Sunbrella. Lock in tight for solid sleeping surface. I’m 6’4” & my kid 6’3” & we slept comfortably w/ heads at helm & feet at bow. Cabin also great for kids to roll around when you want to extend boat days w/ the wife & it’s perfect if your plan is to roll the intracoastal bunny hopping marinas.
Audio: (JL Audio Tuner MM100s-BE 100) – (JL M770-CCX Speakers x 4) – (JL Audio Amp M400/4) – System Thumps
Navigation: Garmin Echomap Plus 74CV
Lights: System redone w/ new stern light moved to top & multicolor spreaders installed at rear of hardtop.
Electrical: Last yr. upgraded the electrical busbars under dash & all switch fuses replaced. This was an expensive endeavor but the electrical is solid. Cigarette & USB chargers installed left side of steering wheel. Boat has 2 batteries at rear & starboard battery replaced 3 months ago.
Dashboard: When new GPS & Tuner installed, eliminated the stock glove box to flush mount this equipment. Quick access to this via cabin & twist of 1 latch.
Fuel: Tanks are aluminum. Auxiliary 56 gal – main 72 gal. I’ve never been an offshore guy, so I only used the main tank to store 20 gallons of back up fuel, but I burned & replenished this 20 gal every 90 days.
Decals: All new decals & striping installed at end of 2022.
Outriggers: Each outrigger threads down into 4 sections to fit in dedicated bag & easily store in cabin. Missing the top section of 1 outrigger but you can find online or get a metal guy to fabricate. I never got around to it.
Washdown: Saltwater blue hose in pics & 10-gallon freshwater tank which pumps through the hose inset into the transom & at spicket behind passenger captain chair.
Livewell: Large between rear seats.
Recent Service: Prior to listing the boat, I had the following serviced: fuel water separator, fuel filters, oil, oil filter, foot oil, trim tilt, & hydraulic steering system. Also installed new wiper blade & battery on starboard side.
Extras: In last pic are couple extras including mint KingFisher captain chair(250$) & new 3-Person dingy, grey boat cover bag, black sunshade, etc. & large grey bag are the outriggers broken down.
