Power Boat Guide write-up
Power Boat Guide ~
Largest boat in the Chris Craft fleet at the turn of the millennium, the 328 Express Cruiser (called the 32 Crowne in 1997 and the 320 Express in 1998–99) is a contemporary mid-cabin family cruiser whose moderate price will appeal to budget-minded buyers. Chris Craft enthusiasts haven’t had much to cheer about in recent years when it comes to well-styled boats, but the 328 combines several nice design touches wrapped up in a conservative but still- contemporary package. She’s constructed on a solid fiberglass deep-V hull with a wide beam, and her centerline helm position (as opposed to the traditional starboard side console) is somewhat unique. Belowdecks, the mid-cabin floorplan is very spacious for a boat this size. The layout is fairly conventional with double berths fore and aft, a small galley and a head with shower. The Crowne’s anchor arrangement is pretty slick—a concealed windlass lowers the self-stowing anchor through an opening beneath the bow. Additional features include a walk-through windshield, an electric engine compartment hatch, and transom door. Among several engine options, twin 5.7-liter Volvo I/Os cruise at 22 knots (mid 30s top).
